Min Chen is an associate professor at Thunderbird School of Global management, where he teaches Global Strategy, Negotiation, Comparative Management, and Asian Business. He has been recognized by the corporate and academic worlds for his teaching excellence at both the graduate and executive levels. He was educated in China, the US, Australia, Israel and Russia, and received his Ph.D. from Australian National University. His teaching and research have benefited from his unique working experience as Corporate Business Development Vice President of a NYSE listed company) for more than 10 years in Asia. He can teach in both English and Chinese and can use Japanese, Russian and French for research work.
Dr. Chen's research and teaching interest covers Competitive Strategies (with an emphasis on globalization of small and mid-sized MNCs), International Negotiation, Comparative Management, and Foreign Direct Investment Management. His current research focuses in business dynamics in the Asian Pacific Rim, including Japan, the greater China areas, S. Korea and S. E. Asian countries. He has authored and co-authored 8 books and more than 40 articles in various journals in both English and Chinese. His books Asian Management Systems, Managing International Technology Transfer and Venture Capital Management have been printed many times and used by many universities as their textbooks worldwide.
Dr. Chen's consulting experience is concentrated on business strategy formulation and implementation, with a focus on international business operations of mid-size MNCs, which are restricted by financial and human resources and are hard pressed for instant profitability. He has been involved in setting up several successful manufacturing joint ventures in China, Korea, Japan and Singapore. He participated in technology licensing projects in China, Japan and Korea. He has hands-on experience in transforming and expanding a regional distribution network for a mid-size medical instrument company and in setting up a sourcing network in Asia for a mid-size auto parts company from scratch.
