Currently, Dr. Miyataki is President of JAIMS (Japan-America Institute of Management Science), a non-profit postgraduate institute located in Hawaii and founded by Fujitsu Limited in 1972. Provides vision and leads in the implementation of management education programs, business language and communications training, and corporate seminars for managers from Japan, the U.S., other Asian countries, and Europe. Annually visits countries such as Japan, China, Singapore, France, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom to consult with corporate executives and government officials on management training and to conduct workshops on cross-cultural management at the executive and MBA program levels. Experience includes visits to Denmark, Austria, Germany, the Philippines, and Turkey for management workshops and consultation.
 
Dr. Miyataki served as Associate Dean (1994-96) and Associate Professor (1985-96) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Business Administration (UHCBA), specializing in comparative management and organizational behavior, strategic planning, and leadership training for business executives and hospital administrators. Also served as Associate Professor (1985-96) at UH- West Oahu College. Appointed in 2003 as Visiting Professor in the School of International Business, Beijing Language and Culture University in China.
 
Has more than 30 years of consulting experience to Board trustees and senior-level executives in strategic planning, organization development, and general management and cross-cultural management training at local, national, and international levels. Clients have included AIG Hawaii, Inc.; McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii; AMFAC properties; M&E Pacific, Inc.; Prudential Locations, Inc.; Wallpaper Hawaii; Hawaii Pacific Health; Queen’s Medical Center; Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii; State Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; State High Technology Development Corporation; State Department of Health; National Science Foundation Exclusive Economic Zone Program; University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing; University of Hawaii Board of Regents; and the Guangdong Economic Management Cadre Institute, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, and the State Commission of Science and Technology of P.R.C., among others.
 
Dr. Miyataki holds BA in Math from UH at Manoa and a MBA in Management Science and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder with major in management and organizational behavior and minor in administrative governance.
